Pairing Apple’s Wireless Keyboard With the iPhone
I have just got the Apple Wireless keyboard and think it is great but what else can it do. I have it paired with my Macbook and thats fine. But could it be used on the go with the iPhone?
Well as you do, I was reading a review for the keyboard on the web before buying it. AppleInsider has a thorough review of the Apple Wireless keyboard and towards the end of the review, an idea was placed toward the end of the review.
The reviewer requested the following from Apple:
“One feature I’d like to see added requires new software support on the iPhone: the ability to pair the phone to the Bluetooth keyboard. Imagine using the duo as a hyper thin traveling companion for taping out notes.”

For me, this would be better than sliced bread. The possibilities are literally endless. And not limited to just browsing the web. It could open up a variety of new applications and become more than just a phone or a portable media device but more like a personal computer.
Also, as you may know, the iPhone output video onto a TV. Now how limited this is I don’t know. I haven’t used but could you imagine plugging your iPhone into a TV, turning on your Apple Wireless keyboard and browsing the web on Safari.
From what I heard, this can already be done but with another phone. A Nokia can use the Apple Wireless keyboard in the same way that was described above. So the keyboard can handle it.
What does the future hold for the iPhone? Well only time will tell. The API for a Bluetooth Keyboard is most likely hidden among an array of other things in the iPhone OS.
So what do you think?
